In Writer, the combo box for type size will only let you see ten font sizes at a time, and will not let you see any font size smaller than the one you happen to be using at the moment, unless you use a few mouse-clicks.

In Indesign, you are shown fourteen font sizes to choose from, both smaller and larger than the one you are using right now.

In Writer, the combo box for typeface will only let you see twelve font names, and will not let you see any font name higher up the alphabet than the one you happen to be using at the moment, unless you use a few mouse-clicks.

In Indesign, you are shown over fifty fonts to choose from, and searching higher up the list only requires you to hover the mouse over the up arrow, not to click.
