Pete Spence - two poems

the stars are cleaning
the clouds tonight
so we can't see them
even from the highchair
we never
have a moment to lose
if the sun rises
it'll be our guest, retractable
you can laugh
all you want and more,
the holes remain,
the entrails unreadable
we add
to the wreckage daily
and it never
makes the News

the extraordinary patience
of the blue letterbox
as it waits
conversing with the shadows
as they move about
trying to evade
the sun!!
i'm jittery
like i've had
15 straight coffees
as the 3rd day
without mail
forgets to avoid
my notice!!
