Germanía / Germaniadified (detranslations)
Inself
and
outself
are two
timid characters
inside
the
verb
the well
hidden
matter
outside
the brain
is nothing
you’d carry
over the dim
fence
of your self
and my self
steal?
from whom
ever again
just
a shell
For Kris Dykstra

Enser
y
fueraser
son dos
caracteres timidos
dentro
de la
acción
el bien
tapado
asunto
afuera del
cerebro
es la nada que
tú llevarías así tenaz
saltando por encima de
la valla oscurecida
del ser tuyo
del ser mío
robar?
de quién
nunca más
nada
caparazón
Para el monje

The English poem above, entitled “Germanía,” is the original, composed by Omar in reply to an email conversation last fall about translations and contexts. The Spanish version under “Germaniadified,” is an answer of sorts to his remarks, one given in the form of a skewed translation.
